Fossil sand dollars/sea urchin skeletons captured in beach tumbled stones, found near Fort Funston beach, southwest of San Francisco
You’ve got such a good eye to find that one on the right on a beach full of stones!
Thank you! That means a lot since I pride myself on my treasure-finding abilities! There is method among the madness (though maybe I shouldn’t reveal it bc it’ll take away some of the magic ;)): rather than scanning for the fossilized pieces, I looked for sandstones, because that’s where they were likely buried and preserved, and a lot easier to scope than other common rocks on the beach like jaspers, mudstones. Then once I found the right layer that held the fossils, I looked for that type of sandstone and the chances were in my favor of finding some key to the past!
